Bus Driver
Salary: Based on experience.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: To transport students to and from school in a safe and timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Drives school buses on assigned routes in a safe and orderly manner in accordance with state regulations and district policy.
- Performs required operational and pre-trip safety inspections of vehicles and related equipment.
- Washes, cleans, and fuels buses as required.
- Maintains control of student passengers as related to safety. Reports unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Shall possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a Missouri School Bus Driver’s Permit.
- Must be in satisfactory physical condition.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
I. Driver Duties:
1. Drive School bus over the assigned route as written and approved by the
Transportation Director.
2. Assist administrators, teachers, and parents in promoting a positive relationship
between school and students.
3. Observe rules, regulations, and responsibility contained in the Board policies and the
Transportation Handbook.
4. Conduct safety inspections of the bus as defined by State regulations and the
Transportation Director.
5. Complete all required forms accurately and promptly.
6. Attend meetings in accordance with departmental requirements.
7. Enforce all rules and policies for safe student bus riding.
8. Keep the bus clean.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Transportation Director.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, the ability to adjust and focus and depth perception. Specific auditory abilities required include normal conversation and the ability to isolate voices in multiple conversations
WORK ENVIRONMENT / CONDITIONS:
The work environment includes the school bus and transportation depot.

Communication device provided on the bus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Assigned to 188-day work calendar; hours per day vary; compensation and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life) as provided by the Board of Education.
