GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Order Parts and materials for ongoing repairs and projects
- Estimate materials and costs for carpentry projects
- Build walls for classrooms and offices – all aspects of construction
- Repair drywall, plaster, masonry and all other walls
- Read and comprehend blueprints and drawings
- Sketch/prepare drawings for projects, permits for walls, doors, etc.
- Design and construct cabinetry, tables, counters, booths, etc.
- Install doors, door jambs and hardware
- Install and repair plaster, drywall and suspended ceilings
- Install and repair siding and guttering
- Install and repair vinyl, quarry, ceramic, laminate, carpet and other flooring
- Install and repair windows and window treatments
- Ability to weld equipment and materials and materials using arc, mig and tig welders
- Repair EPDM, slate, built up, modified and other roofs
- Snow and Ice removal using district truck and equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
NOTE: All Facilities Department positions are physically demanding and require the ability to lift up to 100 lbs., work off of ladders and scaffolding, work in confined areas with frequent stretching, twisting and bending. Specific job categories may be more strenuous and may require different physical abilities, but all jobs incorporate the above requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience
- Carpentry skills
- Carpenter’s Joint Apprenticeship Program Certification Preferred
- Experience in general building maintenance
- Ability to work safely from ladders, scaffolding and other high areas
- Must have a good attendance and work record
- Must have a good driving record
- Possess initiative and motivation
- Willing to work overtime and on call outs for emergencies
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
