The Ferguson Florissant School District is seeking an outstanding educator for the position of Restorative Room Teacher at McCluer High School. The Restorative Room Teacher will provide support to the instructional program with specific responsibility to include school-wide implementation of restorative practices designed to establish an equitable learning environment. The role will assist with improving school culture by building healthy relationships, increasing social capital, reducing the impact of harm, decreasing antisocial behavior, repairing harm, and restoring relationships. This position exists to prevent, respond to, and minimize the barriers to learning that students may experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Provide school based coordination and facilitation of restorative practices for student support, using restorative tools, circles, and conferencing as needed, to support a positive school climate and

2. Provide ongoing support using Restorative Practices for students that need intensive

3. Create and facilitate a restorative classroom space, used to support students’ social and emotional

4. Develops lesson plans, within the restorative classroom, to support Restorative Practices and community

5. Provide continuation of instructional practices using district adopted resources aligned to Social-emotional and academic

6. Assist in coordinating the re-entry of students returning to general education classrooms to provide access to wraparound supports and connection to

7. Work collaboratively with staff to analyze data to develop improvement plans to interrupt practices that contribute to disproportionate discipline

8. Collaborate with school staff and provide tiered levels of support to develop student social- emotional

9. Attend school support team meetings and other student focused team meetings as necessary or directed by the building

10. Participate in professional development provided by the

11. Monitor students during assigned periods for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor’s degree with teaching certificate (any subject) preferred or Missouri Substitute Certificate.
2. Experience with underrepresented students
3. Must have a working knowledge of computers and instructional
4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Knowledge/Skills

1. Theoretical and practical understanding of restorative practices within the school

2. Ability to demonstrate cultural competency and to navigate and promote sensitivity with issues of race and

3. Demonstrated experience and success working with diverse and underrepresented students and

4. Knowledge of best practices in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to meet students’ social and emotional

5. Knowledge of The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning competencies.

Minimum Salary: $41,010 - Benefits 2023-2024 School Year Only
