Extended School Year-Early Childhood Special Education

TITLE: Physical Therapist

PRIMARY FUNCTION:  Assess and provide physical therapy to children who are eligible for Early Childhood Special Education service.

Extended School Year (ESY) 2024

Dates- June 10th - June 27th
Extended School Year Hours:  8:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday – Thursday

Staff Hours: 8:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.

Location:  TBD 

SALARY:  $35 per hour

DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO:  Director of Early Childhood Special Education

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Physical Therapist is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:

1. Develop Individual Education Plan (IEP).
2. Provide physical therapy to children.
3. Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
4. Plan with classroom teacher to provide a trans-disciplinary integral approach to meet children’s needs.
5. Maintain logs on children’s progress and development.
6. Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.
7. Provide services within the classroom when possible.
8. Maintain data on children’s progress and development.
9. Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.
10. Have the ability to physically bend, squat, lift and support a child weighing 40-50 lbs.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be a licensed Physical Therapist.
2. Must have the ability to relate well with young children.
3. Must have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
