Early Childhood Special Education
TITLE: Occupational Therapist
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Assess and provide occupational therapy children who are eligible for Early Childhood Special Education services.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Early Childhood Special Education
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Occupational Therapist is responsible for effective performance in the following areas:
- Provide diagnostic assessments for children with suspected fine motor delays. Record and evaluate findings to establish or revise treatment plan.
- Develop Individual Education Program (IEP).
- Provide occupational therapy to children.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and parents.
- Plan with classroom teacher to provide a trans disciplinary approach to meet children’s needs.
- Provide services within the classroom when possible.
- Maintain data on children’s progress and development.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding individual children’s progress.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified occupational therapist.
- Must have the ability to relate well with young children.
- Must have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.
