Early Education Head Start Floater
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
Assist the teacher in providing a quality early childhood education program.
Float between all Head Start classrooms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum sixty (60) hours of college credit, with at least one course related to early childhood education.
- A.A. in early childhood education, child development, or child care preferred
- Experience working with young children
- Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Substitute Certification
Knowledge/Skills –
- Understanding of early childhood development.
- Sensitivity to the feelings and needs of others.
- Experience working with young children.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES: 1. Assist teacher in planning and working with preschool children and follow her lead/approach with children. 2. Assist in the development of a learning environment which emphasizes communication skills, thinking and problem-solving skills, social-emotional skills, and motor skills. 3. Maintain confidentiality concerning children and families. 4. Use a positive approach in dealing with all behavior. 5. Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and parents. 6. Deal with children fairly and impartially. 7. Utilize observational skills in learning about each child. 8. Maintain program organization necessary for operating a classroom, for example, prepare activities, maintain an orderly room, clean and organize materials. 9. Demonstrate professional standards of appearance, ethics, and behavior, which serve as a positive model for children and parents. 10. Be punctual and regular in attendance, spending sufficient time to perform assigned duties thoroughly.
