The award-winning Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis provides simulated space missions, science education, and teambuilding programs. The core experience at the center is a two-hour simulated space mission featuring an orbiting space station and a Mission Control center. All programs offered by the Challenger Learning Center provide meaningful and engaging science, technology, engineering, and math activities as well as a focus on team-building, cooperation, and critical and creative thinking skills. Programs are available for students, educators, corporations, scouts, community groups and the general public.
The Assistant Lead Flight Director will learn to facilitate all offered programs and work behind the scenes to ensure programs run smoothly.
ASSISTANT LEAD FLIGHT DIRECTOR
Part-time (30 hours/week)
Pay: $19/hour
Responsibilities:
- Facilitate simulated space missions and other programs for schools, community, public and corporate groups on weekdays and weekends.
- Assist with program set-up and take-down
- Represent the Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis at business fairs, meetings, conferences, and other related activities as needed
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Teaching experience in formal or informal education
- Strong presentation, communication (both oral and written), and organization skills
- Demonstrated interest in space science preferred
- Comfortable working with technology
- Ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative in the work environment
- Demonstrated ability to work successfully both as part of a team and independently
- Dynamic, outgoing and creative personality
- Available to work Tuesday-Saturday, with occasional Mon-Fri weeks
